Kangke Super Kraft REARWIN SPEEDSTER 1/5th Scale

Performance Modifications

In order to take full advantage of the Rearwin Speedster 1/5th scale ARF, there are some optional things you can do to enhance its flying performance.

First on the list is to seal all of the control surface hinge lines. This will make a dramatic difference. They will be very responsive and crisp in movement. You may use any method to seal them. Packing tape works well, but I perfer to use Ultrakote to match the finish. It just makes the upgrade look clean. Of all the enhancements, this one has the most dramatic effect on flying.

As you can see, the airleaks between the surfaces is GONE! You will be astonished as to how much effect this has on your aircraft.

Next, REPLACE the wing strut BRACKETS & CLEVISES.

The original brackets & clevises have too much slop allowing the wing to move slightly. Replace these with commonly found items at your local hobby shop This makes the struts ridged and makes the wing behave properly during high-stress maneuvers and it looks cleaner as well.

Next, the tail-feather wires... You need to seriously consider wires on both sides the the horizontal stab.

This modification enhances the horizontal stab stability during high-stress inverted maneuvers. You will find this to be very beneficial during outside loops and inverted flat-spins. If you DARE to try a BLENDER (violent 3D maneuver) you will be glad you put the wires on!

At the time I took these photos, I hadn't sealed off all the hinge lines get.   It's done now... You may also notice the elevator servo is DIRECT to the ELEVATOR. This is done on both sides, and .093" rod makes the connection.

Engine cowling side-vents aren't necessary, but they are functional and look great. The mesh is plain ol' aluminum window screen glued inside the cowling.
