SUPER SKYBOLT ARF & Echo 1.3 Gas Engine PROJECT THREE: Install servos in the tail. Materials needed: Exacto knife, 3 servos, razor saw, 1/8" lite plywood, thin CA, and 1/2" guide or small steel ruler. Covering iron
This completes the fuselage modifications. The Sykbolt can be assembled per the directions. Servos weigh about 1.5 ounces each, so I have about 4.5 ounces of ballast on the tail section. The balance ratio is 3:1 therefore, my servos will off-set 13.5 ounces of nose weight. That's not quite enough for the engine and accessories. However, I still have flying wires, and 2 battery packs yet to install. this will make up the difference. Also note that I'm using TWO elevator servos.
Depicted below is the ENGINE pre-fit, to be sure everything is where it should be.
The ECHO 1.3 will be fully enclosed within the cowling. Even the Pitts muffler has pleanty of room. Approx. 1/4" of carb will protrude through the cowling.
As you can see, this is an impressively clean install, with good frontal engine exposure for cooling. |
